Desktop Fay

There are few applications that can make me smile, fewer still that can make me laugh. Dmitry G. Kozhinov’s application Desktop Fay managed to do both. With the Desktop Fay application you can check out your inbox, send out emails, create reminders, and access a calculator. The amusing thing is how Fay interacts with the things on her desk; the hilarious thing is how she smashes the alarm clock when a reminder goes off.

The Desktop Fay installation file is 2.5MB in size. You can install the application on a PC powered by Windows 7, Windows Vista, as well as older Windows versions all the way down to Windows 95. A simple setup wizard will help you install Desktop Fay on your PC.

Desktop Fay’s interface presents Fay sitting on a chair, in front of a desk. On the desk there’s a clock, a mail folder, and a calculator. Click the clock to set up reminders, click the mail to access your inbox, and click the calculator to access, well, a calculator. Right click Desktop Fay to access the Options menu and to switch to one of the five supported languages: English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian.

When Desktop Fay launches for the first time, it will ask you to give the cartoon personal assistant a name and it will ask for your email login info – it will use this info to retrieve your emails and to send out emails for you. Desktop Fay will notify you of incoming emails, will let you read the emails you receive, and will let you send out emails. You can even send out personalized emails in batch.

There are two other things that Desktop Fay does: it lets you create reminders and lets you access a calculator. Since the calculator bit is self explanatory, let’s focus on the reminders. You can set it up so the alarm goes off at the time and date you specify. You can type in anything you want and the reminder will display that text. You can set it up to be reminded with sound and animation or with a custom sound.
